The cemetery of Drenova is presented in a special photographic exhibition as one of the representative European cemeteries with the form of a park.
Drenova Cemetery
The social development of recent decades has transformed many cemeteries across Europe into the central natural elements of urban centers. Cemeteries are becoming more and more like parks, but they retain their key role - preservation of memories. An example of such cemeteries is the Drenova Cemetery in Rijeka, conceived as a large green park with trees and rich horticulture, suitable for meditation and relaxation.
About the exhibition
The company Pogrebno podjetje Maribor, the presiding member of Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe (ASCE), celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. On this occasion, numerous events and activities are taking place on the cemeteries of Maribor throughout the year. One of these events is the photo exhibition entitled "Memorial Parks of Europe". The photographs represent cemeteries that are special for their green areas and their park shape, such as that of the Drenova cemetery.
The exhibition is on display from 25 April 2019 in front of the farewell facility at Dobrava cemetery (Maribor, Slovenia).
